Unknown Lovely - Mystery Solved!
Our lovely lady is Mrs. Nancy Virginia Lonergan Foley. Mrs. Foley was the winner of the 1934 Miss Harrisonburg Contest sponsored by Rion-Bowman VFW and the Ladies Auxiliary. She was born April 4, 1917, the daughter of Edward Joseph and Mary Margaret Reilly Lonergan of Harrisonburg. She married Dabney Adams Foley on Feb. 21, 1938. They had two daughters, Janiece Yvonne Foley whom died as an infant and Jaqueline “Jackie” Elizabeth Foley Puffenberger. Nancy served as the Postmaster for Pleasant Valley Post Office from 1960 until 1980.
She passed on February 24, 2010 at the young old age of 92. On a sad note, her daughter Jackie also passed away on Dec. 30, 2010. Jackie was a librarian for Singers Glen School and Fulks Run Elementary. Jackie was also a published genealogist and her works can be perused at Massanutten Regional Library.
